When RIM married the telephone and the computer they created the Blackberry.  It was the perfect solution for the Information Technology (IT) crowd.  Until the Blackberry came along, members of the geek crowd carried around a pager (or two), a cell phone and a laptop.  Clients demanded immediate response to their PC problems. So the boss awarded the “lucky” on-call support person temporary ownership of a laptop, cell phone – and a pager (or two).  It was pretty cool to be the guy or the on-call gal with all those gadgets–a modern technological icon.  It was a lot of stuff to haul and just a much to accidently leave behind in the airport restroom.

The Blackberry Instead

When RIM came out with the Blackberry those of us in the IT crowd jumped for this solution.  The Blackberry was a combination cell phone, computer and pager.  The beauty of all this convenience was that it fit in the palm of your hand.  You could check email driving to the airport.  You could even use it to plug it into a router and configure a network. Yes, we still had to clip the Blackberry device to the belt or purse, but it meant we could dump the pager and keep the laptop in the bag for another trouble call.  Happily, we traded in our cell phones for those marvelous Blackberry gadgets.

Multi-Purpose Tool of Choice

Today, the Blackberry Bold 9900 Touch is the combination tool of choice for IT professionals.  The high-resolution screen on the BlackBerry Smartphone provides a clear display for messaging, browsing the Web and searching through email and files stored on the Blackberry 9900.  Transitioning off older models is not an upgrade nightmare.  Files and emails are easily transferred.  The 9900 Bold Touch has an easy-to-use keyboard, wider than previous models. It is lighter, brighter, and faster providing more functionality than earlier Blackberry models.  Email compatibility and synchronization with enterprise email systems is a “must have” for people in support roles.
The Blackberry 9900 Bold offers more utility for users, but above all things; it offers more security that competitive Smartphones. RIM’s Blackberry Smartphones have been the overwhelming choice for corporations and government agencies. The main reason for this preference is that RIM understood how much valuable information is held on this type of device. The security built into the BlackBerry 9900 and the Blackberry Enterprise Solution allows professionals to confidently access sensitive information wherever they may be.  No matter what industry or government sector, the Blackberry 9900 Bold Touch provides secure utility and function to meet goals while safeguarding critical records and information.
